Centre Manager Maternity Cover

We are currently recruiting for cover for our Centre Manager Amelia Jackson, to enable her to take Annual Leave and Maternity Leave from 1st August 2022.

Coniston Community Association

Coniston Community Association operates the community centre in The Parade, Coniston Road, Patchway.  The building has a community café, community rooms, advice services and offices for community organisations.  We are seeking cover and maternity cover from August 2022 for our enthusiastic Centre Manager to continue to bring the centre to life.  The centre has been funded through a variety of sources including Patchway Town Council and the Community Fund.  The Trustee’s aim is to bring the community together, improving the health and wellbeing of local residents and improving the sense of community.

CENTRE MANAGER (Maternity Cover)

Part Time (25 hours) – £17,000

To run all aspects of the community centre ensuring it operates effectively, meets the needs of the local community and of the centre users.

JOB DESCRIPTION

POST:                                      CENTRE MANAGER – CONISTION COMMUNITY CENTRE

RESPONSIBLE TO:                   Coniston Community Association Trustees

SALARY:                                  £17,000 per annum (25 hours per week)

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

To run all aspects of the community centre ensuring it operates effectively, meets the needs of the local community and of the centre users.

Tasks and Duties

  • To provide a warm welcome to centre visitors and users
  • To ensure that rooms are appropriately equipped and ready for bookings
  • Produce reports to the Community Association and funders
  • Identify and raise funds
  • Be responsible for all aspects of finance including keeping accounts, sending out invoices, ordering supplies
  • Take centre bookings
  • Promote the centre within Patchway and the wider community and to raise the income
  • To advise the Trustees to ensure they have up to date policies and procedures
  • Increase bookings and thereby develop relationships between those using the centre
  • Develop local services and activities to be run from the centre, including open days, ad hoc social events and Annual General Meetings
  • Ensure the Centre has an up to date User procedure for using the Centre
  • Supervise and support clerical, cleaning and caretaking staff
  • Ensure effective maintenance of the building – including maintenance programmes
  • Supervise contractors and others regarding work in the building
  • Ensure the building is safe and secure at all times
  • Manage storage space and equipment use within the building
  • Support volunteers and volunteer involvement with the running of the Centre
  • Work with local partners to ensure activities at the Centre fit with others provided in the area and develop close working relationships with key local partners
  • Investigate and apply for outside funding/grants
  • Responsibility for health and safety in the building
  • Personal qualities are important: the post holder will need a strong commitment to helping members of the community get involved and help manage events at the Centre
  • The post holder will also need to be self-reliant, energetic and able to prioritise activities.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

So far as reasonably practicable, the post holder must ensure that safe working practices are adopted by employees and in premises/work areas for which the post holder is responsible to maintain a safe working environment for employees and service users.

SPECIAL NOTES AND CONDITIONS

The post holder will be subject to a DBS check.

There will be some evening and weekend work.

Education and training (Essential)

  • Educated to a reasonable standard (A level or above)
  • Computer training with knowledge of word, excel and web
